Your Worst Enemy

"Your worst enemy, he reflected, was your own nervous system. At any moment the tension inside you was liable to translate itself into some visible symptom." (Orwell 64). I felt that this quote was a very significant quote on the idea of the connection between ones emotions, and how the outside world is reacting to those emotion during the period of this book. This quote is significant to that idea because it is so dire that people keep their bubbling emotions to themselves in this world. The government that overlooks them doesn't like difference, and the slightest sign of difference could result in a tragic ending for someone. Everybody however is not the same and everybody has different views, emotions, opinions, and ideas that are very hard to keep quiet and away from everybody else. That is why its so hard to live in this place because of how severe it is to let it all out. The difference between who continues through life here and who doesn't all depends on how strong one can be holding everything bottled up. Thats the difference.
